I am directed by Mr. Secretary
Long to transmit to you, to be laid
before the Lords Commissioners of the
Treasury, the accompanying copy of
a letter from Messrs. Wells, Fargo and
Company, relative to shipments of
American gold coin to Hong Kong,and to
say that he will be glad to receive any
observations which Their Lordships may
desire to offer in the matter.

I am to state that there is
no information in this Department as to
any action by the Government of Hong
Kong in the matter,
